Following the outrageous personhood amendment and anti-gay adoption bills, the GOP dominated Virginia House of Representatives passed a bill on Valentine’s Day, no less, requiring any women seeking an abortion to first undergo a transvaginal ultrasound.  An amendment introduced by a Democratic representative that would have allowed medical professionals to determine whether images could be obtained without the use of penetrative equipment predictably failed.  Rachel Maddow has been all over this story and has an excellent piece documenting this atrocity here.
