Missouri House Majority Leader, Tim Jones (Republican) sponsored a bill that would allow medical professionals to deny working on certain reproductive procedures on religious grounds.  Apparently concerned that medical staff might not try their hardest if their duties conflicted with their “beliefs” had this to say in support:

I’ve been in operating rooms. My father is a veterinarian. I grew up in operating rooms…they are crowded places…and you want those people all in.

This guy clearly didn’t get the memo that equating women’s health with animals is probably not the best way to sway women, the young, swing voters, voters with brains, etc. to your cause.
