The case of a Texan woman rendered brain dead from a suspected pulmonary embolism whilst pregnant has attracted international media attention. Last week the brain dead woman’s husband filed a law suit against the hospital who are refusing to end life support because she is pregnant. That hearing is scheduled today. Earlier this week lawyers representing Mr Munoz stated that the fetus was “distinctly abnormal”. In documents released prior to today’s hearing it has emerged for the first time that the hospital acknowledges that the fetus is not viable and that Mrs Munoz is brain dead.

At present it is not clear when State District Judge R.H. Wallace will deliver his ruling.
